What is the difference between fail-safe and fail-secure, and which should I show on the plan?

Fail-safe: Unlocked when power is lost (used on exit paths for safety).
Fail-secure: Locked when power is lost (used for secure entry points only).
Your plans must label each lock clearly and justify selection per life safety standards.
